Chipped Teeth
If you have a minor chip in your tooth, your Dentist can either smooth out the chip with a sandpaper disc or fill it in with a Composite Material. More serious breaks call for immediate treatment. As long as the pulp is still healthy, the tooth can usually be resolved with a permanent Crown. If the pulp is damaged, however, treatment becomes slightly more complicated. Root Canal treatment may be required to remove all or parts of the damaged pulp before putting on the Crown.
Cracked Teeth
A cracked tooth that is not treated will worsen and may result in the loss of the tooth. Cracks in teeth will generally begin at the chewing surface of the tooth and over time will vertically migrate towards the root. When this occurs, damage to the tooth pulp is common. Root Canal treatment is usually necessary to remove the pulp and save the injured tooth. A Crown may then be implemented to recreate your beautiful smile and repair its structure and function.
Covering the entire surface area of the tooth, Crowns provide numerous benefits to patients. These advantages, aid both the structural and aesthetic nature of the tooth. |
